Tue 5/17/05 3:01 PM - T14: The first upload of our journal is complete. Hypothesis: In milk it will grow fast because of the calcium. In gasoline it won't grow because its toxic. In hot water the sprouts will turn brown because the water is really hot. In dye it won't grow because of the coloring. In root beer it won't grow because of the carbonation.
Mon 5/23/2005 10:34 PM - Dr. B. Schulz: Hi Llama Lords: I have some questions for you. It looks like you are going to look at what fluids will make plants grow fast. How many seeds will you use with each fluid? When we do experiments, we usually try to understand what is happening. How did you decide on the fluids you list for this experiment? If you think about what plants need to be able to grow well, what other things might you consider? How about some various kinds of fertilizer? If we think plants need sugar which they make using photosynthesis, maybe you could consider some sugar water as one of the fluids. How often and much fluid will you give your sprouts each time ? I am interested in the results you get with this experiment. Good luck.
Thr 5/19/05 3:01 PM - T14: After soaking the seeds in water now the real questions come, witch seed will grow the most over a period of time? Some of our seeds are sprouting, some are not. We are making great progress, like some of the skins are coming off.
Fri 5/20/05 3:01 PM - T14: The seeds are sprouting a lot all of the seeds are coming to a spouting stage now the Q's come - see journal.
Thurs 5/26/05 4:55 PM - T14: Everyone's seeds have begun to sprout except for Cory and Tyler's -- see journal.
Fri 5/27/2005 7:25 AM - Dr. Beverly Brown: Hi there! I'm wondering how you chose the differenet solutions. What made you interested in their effects? How would calcium be useful to plants? How hot was the hot water you used? Do you have any growth data? What did you find out regarding your questions from Thursday and Friday? I'll look forward to hearing from you!
Wed 6/1/05 1:57 PM - T14: The final upload of our journal is complete.
6/1/05 2:11 PM - T14 Response to Dr. Brown : Yes one of our major things we should have done on is adding more details to our data entrys. I think we could have come up with some more effecting fluids. Also we could have come up with more details in amounts and other effecting things for the fluids.
Wed 6/1/05 1:57 PM - T14: All our hypothesis were correct. Our conclusion is that other liquids than water can slow growth or cause mold in some cases can cause them not to grow at all. If we did our experiment differently we would grow them under more accurate conditions such as measuring our amounts of liquids we are using and tempter of water and the area. And also more effecting things that happen such as weekends with out water.
Fri 6/3/05 12:01 PM - T14: The first upload of our data is complete.
Sat 6/4/2005 8:30 AM - Dr. Beverly Brown: Ah, the process of science! We always see ways to improve! You've done a good job thinking of ways you would improve your study. Becoming very precise when recording observations and measurements takes practice. I am confident your next experiments will be even better.
