Our research question is: Will the color or the smell of the seeds change soaked in different liquids such as-Kool-aid, Dr. Pepper, Water, and Pink Lemonade and will they grow?

Wed 6/1/05 10:20 AM - Dr. J. Osborn: Hello Monkeys: I enjoyed looking at your data, adding bar graphs was a good idea. It would be helpful if you would write a paragraph summarizing what your experimental design is. What question are you trying to answer and how are you going about answering it? It might be helpful to add a figure legend to the tables to help us interpret them. I think it is interesting that you are using pink lemonade. Does that have sugar in it, or is it sugar free? I am looking forward to following your progress.
Fri 6/3/05 10:37 AM - T12: Our journal upload is complete.
Analysis and Conclusion: We discovered that Rye will actually grow in Pink Lemonade and Kool Aid, we were surprised that the rye actually grew in the Dr. Pepper, even though it was a little bit they still sprouted. We were also surprised that the water made them grow so fast and get so big. Hypothesis: Will the color or the smell of the seeds change soaked in different liquids such as-Kool-aid, Dr. Pepper, Water, and Pink Lemonade and will they grow? Our hypothesis was right, Brandi's Rye actually turned Pink and smelled sour. We were surprised that the color changed in the Dr. Pepper and the smell was horrible. The water made it exactly how it should be and it doesn't smell at all. The seeds in the Kool Aid turned blue and that was surprising.
Sat 6/4/05 4:45 PM - Dr. J. Osborn: Hello Monkeys: I think you did a very good job recording your observations and measurements, and interpreting your data. You have done such a good job that I have only one suggestion for improvement. Let me offer you one suggestion for your graphs: plot the sprout length on the vertical (y) axis and the date the sprouts were measured on the horizontal (x) axis; the hour you recorded the information is not important here. Surprising discoveries are part of the fun of science and one reason scientists enjoy their work so much. I wish you great success making other surprising discoveries in future experiments.
