4/20/05 12:15PM - T5: Our research question is: How do Monocots compare to Dicots, in tersm of Germination time, sprout size, etc...?
4/22/05 2:01PM - T5: First upload of our data is complete.
4/24/05 5:39PM - Dr. Beverly Brown: Your data suggest you are starting to see changes in size. Are you seeing any other changes? Changes in color? Integrity of the seed coat? Anything else?
5/2/05 11:42AM - PEER COMMENT from Bush Team 4 -"Buckwheat Biologists": We are also growing buckwheat and we were wondering what your results of growth were, because your data sheet says there is no other data after day 2.
5/2/05 1:59PM - T5(Sean) Response to Dr. Brown: We are seeing some changes in our seeds, like the colors all seem to be getting slowly brighter. The shape and and sizes of the seeds are still growing and changing. Although some seeds seem to have stopped growing, the others continue to change. I hope that answers your question.
5/2/05 2:19PM - T5(Sean) Response to "Buckwheat Biologists": Our results for growth are updated on our Data sheet. Sorry for the delay, but some of our teammates aren't very keen on growing things. Heh. As you can see from our updated info (if it isn't up yet) that in length, the buckwheat grew to a certain extent, but the sizes were not all one seed, so they're erradic. It should be up by the same time this is, so it should be alright.
5/4/05 1:30PM - PEER COMMENT from Bush Team 6 : We were interested in the same kind of question as you, but we chose to do a different question instead. Have you drawn any definite conclusions yet?
5/4/05 11:45AM - Dr. Jeffrey Osborn: Dear Team 5: I think comparing monocots and dicots is a fascinating idea. Have you done much background research about why your measurements might vary between these two groups? I am curious about what exactly you are measuring when you measure the length. Are you able to standardize your measurements at all?
5/5/05 9:15AM - Dr. C. Hemingway: Hello, Team 5- Your data sheet is excellent! Clearly labeled with the species, the unit of measurement, the data for each day. Before you analyze your data to compare growth rates of monocots and dicots, take another close look at the species in each category. Wheat--like corn, rice, and millet and many other important grain crops--is a member of the grass family (the Poaceae). What about buckwheat? What are some key differences between monocots and dicots?
5/6/05 11:40AM - Dr. Chirs Haufler: I've read through the journal entries and it is clear that you are making some fine qualitative observations of the seeds. I have also looked at your data entries and it is clear you are making careful calculations of the growth. Do you see any differences in the kinds of structures that are emerging from the seeds? Do these structures differ between the monocots and dicots? Do you have any thoughts on why it looks like in general the dicots are "faster" in growth than monocots? Was you initial hypothesis supported by the data you developed? Keep up the good work!

5/6/05 2:38PM - T5: Here's our last update for our Information of our growths. Three of our classmates stopped recording, one recorded last, and the Alfalfa died from lack of water. Over the weekend, I wasn't home, so it didn't get watered, and died. Call it neglect on my part. : / Best Regards, Pershing County Team
5/10/05 3:32PM - T5 (Sean): Here's our last report on our findings for our Research question of how Dicots and Monocots differ. Enjoy. Best Regards, Pershing County Team 5
