Scientific Inquiry through Plants

Welcome to the Pilot of the BSA Sip3, the
"Scientific Inquiry through Plants" project!

Our first Research Topic was "The Wonder of Seeds"

The "Scientific Inquiry through Plants" project is a collaboration of Scientists, Educators and Students seeking to create on online community, fostering discovery and mentorship in the sciences through the use of plants. To learn more about the project "click here".

This site contains our initial "proof of concept projects" (first pilot) from the spring of 2005. Late in September, 2005 we will open the updated BSA Sip3 site at www.plantbiology.org and we will run our fall pilot projects. In early 2006 we will officially launch the site in celebration of the Botanical Society of America's first 100 years as a scientific society.

We'd like to thank the students, teachers and the schools listed below for their involvement in the first pilot. You have helped us learn a great deal about scientific inquiry and mentoring through a web-based environment.

We thank and acknowledge the members of the project development committee (click here) for their vision, input and dedication to both science and education. Great effort!!

Over the of months of April and May, 2005, we tested (piloted) the Sip3 concept. The participating Schools, with links out to the teams and their research, are listed below. Please enjoy exploring our progress. In the spirit of science we'd appreciate your comments and feedback to assist in the evolution of the project. Please email us at: please contact: sip3@botany.org

We hope you enjoyed watching our progress!

Schools appearing as links (blue) have projects on the site. Follow the link to the teams, peer and scientist comments and to each teams research.
