Dear Member of the Phytochemical Section
(on the web at: http://www.botany.org/news/newsletters/phytochemical070228.php)

The Phytochemical Section of the Botanical Society of America welcomes you to actively participate in the Botany 2007 meeting in Chicago. We'd appreciate seeing a presentation of your research or your activities in the field. We seek to increase the profile of our discipline and hope that the phytochemical section will be well represented in Chicago.

The section will meet during the conference and discuss the role of phytochemical research in botany and biology today. Moreover, after the sectional meeting, we will arrange some sort of get-together for section members. I hope we will be able to establish formal and/or informal research and scientific relationships within our section.

The Phytochemical Section is pleased to announce a $400 USD student travel award to support attendance at the Botany 2007 conference. With 15% of our members being students, we are looking for a good response. The award is available to undergraduate/graduate students presenting papers/posters with phytochemical content. Applications are due on April 1st - http://www.botany.org/awards/PhytochemicalSTA.asp. I encourage all student members to apply and ask professional members to support their students in doing so.

If you have students interested in phytochemistry who are yet to become members of the Society/Section, the BSA offers you the opportunity to sponsor NEW student memberships at the rate of $10 per student. To take advantage of this opportunity, go to https://payments.scientific-conference.net/giftmemberships.php.

The possibility of establishing further awards for young and experienced scientists in our section is under consideration. We will continue this discussion during our meeting in Chicago.

Looking forward to seeing you in July.
