Dear Members of the Mycological Section of the Botanical Society
of America,
I encourage Mycological section members to attend the BSA/CBA
conference in Vancouver BC this July - www.botanyconference.org/
The Mycology section is sponsoring a symposium, Plants
and Fungi--Growing together.
In keeping with this theme, I encourage you to submit your oral
presentations to other sections--wherever appropriate. Rather
than keeping fungi separate, let's integrate into general topics--systematics,
development, ecology, etc.
We will offer a Mycological Section poster area if you have some
topic that is singularly fungal.
Also, we are looking for applicants for the 2008 Mycological
section student travel award ($400). Students members
of the section are encouraged to apply (non-section members with
mycological content as well). Professional members, please encourage
your students to do so.

And remember, Botany 2009 will be a big event for our section
as we meet with the Mycological Society of America,
July 25-29 - in Snowbird, Utah!
Thanks, and I look forward to seeing you in Vancouver.

Mission: The Botanical
Society of America exists to promote botany, the field of basic science dealing
with the study and inquiry into the form, function, development, diversity,
reproduction, evolution, and uses of plants and their interactions within the
biosphere.
The objectives of The Society are to: sustain
and provide improved formal and informal education about plants; encourage basic
plant research; provide expertise, direction, and position statements concerning
plants and ecosystems; and foster communication within the professional botanical
community, and between botanists and the rest of humankind through publications,
meetings, and committees.
