Dear Members of the Mycological Section of the Botanical Society
of America,
At the recent BSA meeting in Chicago, the Mycological Section
sponsored a symposium on Plant-Fungal Interactions. The program
was well received due to the integrated nature of the topic, to
the slightly broader perspectives of the speakers, and in part
to the lack of competing symposia at the same time.
The next Botanical Society of America meeting with the Canadian
Botanical Association will be July 26-30, 2008, in Vancouver,
BC. On behalf the Mycological Section, I plan to propose another
half-day symposium on some variant of Plant-Fungal Interactions.
Please send ideas for (1) symposium topics, (2) potential speakers
and their topics, (3) suggestions or volunteers for symposium
co-chairs (4) anything else you think the Mycological Section
should do.
Symposium proposals must be submitted by Oct 15, so get ideas
to me by Sept. 30.

Mission: The Botanical
Society of America exists to promote botany, the field of basic science dealing
with the study and inquiry into the form, function, development, diversity,
reproduction, evolution, and uses of plants and their interactions within the
biosphere.
The objectives of The Society are to: sustain
and provide improved formal and informal education about plants; encourage basic
plant research; provide expertise, direction, and position statements concerning
plants and ecosystems; and foster communication within the professional botanical
community, and between botanists and the rest of humankind through publications,
meetings, and committees.
