Ecological Section History:
In early 1976, at the request of BSA President Barbara Palser, W. Dwight Billings and Jim Quinn wrote to at least 100 ecologists as to their interest in forming an Ecological Section. Following a positive and enthusiastic response, we scheduled an organizational meeting at the 1976 AIBS meetings in Tulane. Also, at that Tulane meeting, the Section was approved by the BSA Council.
