2. Botany 2005
Abstract Submission site is now open
Yes, it is time to start thinking about Botany 2005. The Abstract submission
site is now open and can be found at: http://2005.botanyconference.org/engine/login.php?next=abstract.
The overall submission format has changed slightly. Six presentation options
are available, and each presentation requires an abstract (CONTRIBUTED
PRESENTATIONS: Oral Paper, Poster, Discussion Session,
Education Forum Session; INVITED PRESENTATIONS: Symposium
or Colloquium Presentation, Special Lecture). Please see
the notification via the link listed below. We've made the process simpler
and hopefully a more enjoyable experience. Please let us know what you
think. Your feedback is most appreciated (wdahl@botany.org).
The deadline for abstract submissions is April 1, 2005.
All abstracts and the final program will be available online at the BOTANY
2005 web site prior to the conference, and hard copies will be distributed
on-site to all conference registrants. The "CALL for ABSTRACTS"
can be found at: http://www.botany.org/newsite/reporting/Call_for_Abstracts_(2005).pdf
3. Thank you
- from the BSA Centennial Planning Committee
Thank you to all who responded to the request for assistance in selecting
a theme for the Botany 2006 BSA Centennial Conference. We appreciate your
taking the time and have enjoyed your comments. If you haven't yet had
an oppurtunity to respond you may do so by going to: http://www.botany.org/emailmessages/cpcletter05-02-14.htm.
We will be back to you soon with your overall choice.

Undergraduate Mentoring in Environmental Biology (UMEB) Program
Elizabeth E. Bascom Fellowships in Botany for Latin American Women
Alwyn H. Gentry Fellowships in Botany for South American Researchers
25th Midwest Ecology & Evolution Conference

5. Plant
Science Bulletin announcement
The mailing date for AJB has been moved forward
so that members will receive their copy at the beginning of the month,
rather than the middle or later in the month. Because Plant
Science Bulletin is bundled with the Journal to members who
receive hard copy of the latter, our deadlines for submission of material
to PSB must also be moved forward. Effective
with the next issue, deadlines for receipt of materials for the spring,
summer, fall, and winter issues will be 15 January, 15 April, 15 July,
and 15 October respectively. Thank you in advance for your contributions
and I hope you have a GREAT 2005! - Marshall D. Sundberg, Editor Plant
Science Bulletin, Department of Biological Sciences, Emporia State University
Emporia, KS 66801, ph 620-341-5605, FAX 620-341-5607, email: sundberm@emporia.edu
Spring Issue is now avaiable online at: http://www.botany.org/PlantScienceBulletin/2005/psb51-1.html
6. Thank you
to the Teaching Section
The Teaching Section, led by Beverly Brown, has begun the task of re-shaping
the BSA collection of online teaching images. This resource was established
in the 80's as a slide collection and moved onto the BSA website in the
late 90's. Recently members have begun adding to the collection in an
effort to strengthen the BSA's teaching offerings (in line with our mission).
A big thanks to Beverly and the team! Also a note of thanks to Judy Jernstedt
who recently provide a large collection for use on the BSA site.
The entry point for the collection as it stands today can be found at:
http://www.botany.org/plantimages/.
